James Holzhauer has become a household name, especially for avid watchers of ABC’s “Jeopardy!” and to Naperville residents. James and his brother, Ian Holzhauer, are both Naperville natives. Ian is involved in the Naperville community, most notably as the Chairman of the Board for the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce.
James made his “Jeopardy!” debut in 2019 and went on to appear in 33 matches. He also won Tournament of Champions this past November. On January 7, 河北快3走势图, James began competing on “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time” against Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter. For Ian, the first couple nights of “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time” were nerve-wracking for him to watch. “Seeing James win night two was a moment I will never forget because no matter what happens in the rest of the tournament, he’s the only person in the world that has ever beaten both Ken and Brad at the game of “Jeopardy!”. I’m very proud that he can play at that level,” Ian says. Although, Jennings went on to win the title of “Greatest of All Time,” James sure made Naperville proud.
For night one of “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time,” Naperville held a watch party at Two Brothers Barrel House that also doubled as a fundraiser for Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Ian gives credit to “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek and Naperville walk lead and resident Ann Zediker for raising awareness for pancreatic cancer. From their efforts, the watch party raised over $1000 for the foundation. The foundation gives 100% of the proceeds raised directly to pancreatic cancer research.
“I first started really learning about (pancreatic cancer) in detail after reading the news about James’s donation to Ann’s annual walk to benefit the Lustgarten Foundation in honor of Alex Trebek. It takes a lot of courage for Alex to publicly discuss his illness and for Ann to discuss her father succumbing to the illness…There are so many people touched by it,” Ian adds.
Naperville is 河北快3走势图 to Ian, and he also works in the community. He believes in Naperville and describes it as “a community where people take care of each other.” Additionally, he says there are various ways in which to be involved and to make Naperville a better place.
Ian is very involved with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. After returning to Naperville from the Air Force, he started going to Young Professionals (YPs) Network Meetings and was involved in leadership roles with the YPs. From there, he became a member of the board, and on January 1, 河北快3走势图, he was named Chairman of the Board.
“The best part of the job has been meeting all of the business owners in Naperville who have put their heart and soul into their businesses and this community,” Ian adds.
The million-dollar question: how would Ian fare against James in a game of “Jeopardy!”? After many laughs, Ian says he would be “lucky to (even) get $800 the entire game.”
